Terms of use

Reading the review is free, and every page is open. These terms say what you may do with what you read, and what the desk stands behind.

Quoting the text

You may quote a passage of a note, with the name of the site and a link to the page. You may not republish a whole note, translate it in full or present its text as your own. The tables and check-lists may be reproduced for your own use in a room, which is what they are for.

Using the images

The photographs are illustrations produced for the review and may not be reused. They show no real place and no real event, and should not be presented as if they did.

What the arithmetic is worth

The worked examples are estimates with their inputs shown. They are meant to be redone with your own numbers and to compare two rooms, two set lists or two plans; they are not measurements, and the notes say where each estimate stops being trustworthy. Nothing on the site is professional advice on sound, safety, contracts or travel, and no decision about a real show should rest on it alone.

Sources and links

Outside documents are cited with the day they were consulted. They may have changed since. A link is a reference, not an endorsement, and the desk is not responsible for the content of another site.

Changes to the site

A note may be corrected, extended or withdrawn. When a correction changes a conclusion, the note says so in its text. The desk may change these terms and the privacy page; the current version is the one on the site. How the notes are made is set out in the editorial policy, and the desk is reached through the contact page.
